Reception Classes

  • Reception classes commence at 7.20 a.m. promptly and end at 12.00 noon.
  • It is advisable to see that your child arrives five or ten minutes before the start of school as we try to encourage punctuality.
  • Children should be collected promptly at 12.30 noon. Should your child be waiting for an older brother or sister he/she will be found in their classroom until 12. 45 p.m., then in the main Waiting Area up to 1.30 p.m. thereafter at the Pavilion.
  • Good attendance should be encouraged even in the Reception year. Should your child be ill please inform the school by telephone, e-mail or fax. Please ensure that any changes in your contact details are communicated to the School’s Receptionist and the Class Teacher .
  • Eating time is from 9.30- 10.00 a.m. Break is between 10.00 a.m and 10.30 a.m.
  • Children bring a packed lunch to school. This should be a healthy and substantial one. Packets of chips, cold drink, sweets etc are not considered to be appropriately healthy food for break time.Wrapping paper is discouraged throughout the School as we are very litter conscious.
  • A lunch services is available. Vouchers and menus are available from the Tuck shop.
  • Children should begin the year with the correct equipment. Chair bags, homework bags and uniforms are available from the Uniform Shop. The Uniform Shop is situated on the school grounds and is open every Monday to Friday from 08.00- 14:00 during term time.
  • Please supply your child with a plastic mug (labelled) as drinking water is always available in the classroom.
  • If you need to discuss any matter with your child’s Class Teacher , please make an appointment with him/ her. It is often not possible for a Teacher to talk to you when a class is in session or he/ she has a duty to perform.
  • In preference to a plastic apron in our hot climate we would like your child to bring an adult’s old T.Shirt which can be kept at school and worn for art activities. These will be washed at school.
  • Children should be equipped with a bag which is large enough to hold a towel and black school swimming costume Physical Education (P.E)
  • All clothing including shoes must be marked with your child’s name and surname.
  • If it is necessary to see the Teacher or to deliver anything to your child, we request that you report to the office first. Parents going directly to the classroom during school hours distract the Teacher and Pupils.
  • Please support as many school functions as possible. Children also like to share their birthdays with others in the class. Individual cup cakes are preferable to large creamy cakes. The Tuck shop also takes orders for birthday cup cakes.
  • Very Important. Please check your child’s suitcase for letters and notices every day.
  • Afternoon activities- we would urge you to limit these as it takes time for Reception pupils to adjust to the more formal academic programme. For your convenience, some activities take place on the school premises . These activities are offered by private instructors, who use the school’s facilities. Please be informed that instructors offer these activities at a fee per term or session. The Afternoon Activities programme generated each term will contain all the details you will require regarding “private” activities.
